Elena is the Communications and Outreach Specialist for the GEF-funded ISLANDS and FARM programmes.

Elena has 15 years of experience in communications and marketing with a strong focus on digital strategies and tools. For over seven years, she coordinated digital campaigns for WWF-Russia and led communication activities for the EU-funded project aimed at engaging civil society in environmental protection. After that, she worked for the UK homelessness charity Crisis and provided strategic marketing guidance to their large-scale fundraising and partnership campaigns. One of her key areas of expertise is framing communications to induce social and behavioural change.

In addition to a degree in communications, Elena holds a Master’s in Environment and Development from the London School of Economics and Political Science, with a dissertation focused on financing strategies for national climate adaptation plans in Central Asia.
